TeamChild in Spokane County

The Spokane County office was the second TeamChild office to open its doors. TeamChild began serving youth in Spokane County in 1996, with support from Columbia Legal Services and the Washington Defender Association.

Local Highlights

  • Thanks to everyone who attended our Spokane County Fundraising Event in November 2011 - it was a great success and helped us spread the word about TeamChild's work with youth in Spokane County.  A special thank you to Mark Iverson for taking the lead on planning the event.  TeamChild would like to thank all event sponsors: Paul & Jan Bastine, Pat & Laurie Connelly, Mark Iverson & Michaele Dietzel, Sally Pritchard & Tom Tremaine, and James & Darlene Woodard.
  • TeamChild Spokane hosted a Gonzaga Law School intern during the summer of 2011.  Read about her project here!
  • Rosey Thurman has been working in TeamChild’s Spokane County office since it opened. In 2011, TeamChild Spokane received a Partners in Justice Nomination from Lutheran Community Services Northwest for Rosey’s tireless work in seeking justice, advocating for and giving children a voice in the legal system.
  • TeamChild Spokane was featured in a local news segment on KHQ in 2009.
  • Our Spokane staff attorney continues to provide training and expertise to the Volunteers for Youth panel. TeamChild partnered with Spokane Volunteer Lawyer Program and the local juvenile court to develop this pro bono panel in 2002. Volunteer attorneys donate their time to consult with youth experiencing conflict in the home and other housing instability.
