Hosted by South King County Discipline Coalition - Teen Talks Part VIII: Having Difficult Conversations
Facilitated by Ty of I AM DIVA GIRL and supported by youth counselor Toni Williams; This weekly check-in is to give youth a virtual space committed to healthy reflection and dialogue to build self-esteem, self-confidence, and envisioning the possibilities of life striving to reach their full potential. Participants are encouraged to journal between weekly events and be prepared to discuss how to navigate obstacles they're facing in their environment boldly and respectfully. Youth, between ages 10 and 25, will be provided a $25 participation stipend.

South King County Discipline Coalition (SKCDC) , in partnership with The Office of Education Ombuds and Auburn School District, will be taking time to listen to BIPOC (Black Indiginous People of Color) attending public schools in Auburn School district in responding to the Guiding Questions designed with the focus of dismantling the School to Prison Pipeline and Institutional Racism. Join us, as this Listening Session series is intended to be the beginning of an ongoing relationship that embodies community engagement and community-led solutions in the Auburn School District.

Speakers: Marsha Levick (The Juvenile Law Center); Melissa Lee (Seattle University's Korematsu Center); Damian No One Else and Gus Voss (TeamChild).
The presentation will include an introduction to evolving jurisprudence nationally and locally reflecting adolescent development. We will highlight historical racial disparities in prosecuting children in adult court, recent Supreme Court decisions, and new opportunities for resentencing.
