On Tuesday May 31 from noon – 1:35 pm Pacific Time The Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) Diversity Committee is offering a free Legal Lunchbox™ webcast on disability justice. There are two panelists who will cover what legal professionals need to know about disability justice, a liberatory framework that calls into account failures in policies and law. The first panelist will use an intersectional lens to cover the principles of disability justice, including how other forms of oppression such as ableism and gender-based oppression influence our understanding of tying a person’s worth to their productivity. The second panelist will cover how disability justice relates to inclusion, and how legal professionals must continuously do the hard work of creating inclusive environments when historically the standard has been structural ableism. There will be a Q&A at the end.
