I am a proud woman, millennial, and daughter of an Iranian immigrant. As I grow more confident and vocal in my identity, I care more and more deeply about protecting space for others – especially young people – to feel the same ownership over their lives. After completing my undergraduate degree in sociology and political science at the University of Washington and spending time in different capacities for Books to Prisoners, the Federal Public Defender, and Prison Legal News, I have found the issues towards which I want to focus my efforts. This is how I found my way to TeamChild. I find fulfillment here by supporting work that holistically guards the well-being of youth by confronting an often discriminatory and destructive justice system. As TeamChild’s work continues to be both crucial and challenging, I am inspired by the dedication, grit, and compassion that drives this team to fight tirelessly for the rights of our clients.
